Dark Horse Institute Leaves ‘Tattoos on This Town’

 
Nashville audio engineering school, Dark Horse Institute is leaving its mark on graduates. While pop culture churns out metaphorical references of getting inked such as Jason Aldean’s top 40 smash, “Tattoos on This Town”, a recent Dark Horse Institute graduate took things a little more…literally. Mike Riley is now an alumni of one of Nashville’s fasted growing audio engineering programs and has a lot to show for himself including a shiny, new tattoo proudly displayed on the majority of his left arm. The tattoo is the logo for Dark Horse Institute which started teaching it’s first class in January of 2011 and has since been steadily growing in student population and notoriety.

Mike was always known on campus as a good student and had a knack for plugging himself into just about any music industry opportunity in town. In his first week, he was approached by the label giant UMG Nashville after being spotted at an open mic night playing 3 or 4 cover songs; one of which happened to be a song by the label’s own Eric Church. In addition to sudden label interest, Mike continued to pick up gigs along the strip in Honky Tonk Central – that famous conglomeration of music venues on Broadway and 2nd Avenue.

He has since graduated from Dark Horse Institute with honors and the knowledge to independently record his own music. If you’re ever visiting Nashville, you’ll more than likely see a dark horse from Ohio who ponied up, moved to Nashville, got his education, and is winning the race of his hopes and dreams.
