Korn Unleashes the Dark Side of Recording – Video: The Making of ‘Rotting In Vain’

Korn Unleashes the dark side of recording

Something sinister lurks against the serene backdrop of gentle rolling hills just outside Nashville. There is a quiet intensity among the hovering pines and bales of hay in this remote countryside. Korn has already left the renowned Dark Horse Recording studios where their new hard-hitting song, ‘Rotting in Vain,’ was produced.

Even now the band’s presence can be felt and their music can be heard resonating off the walls in the charmingly rustic studios, where the expertly designed acoustical engineering of the space has unleashed the sound. There’s no doubt that the producer and laid-back setting of Dark Horse Recording have contributed to the success of Korn’s recent release.

‘The studio is in a unique environment that is not only private and conveniently located close to Nashville, but has a very chilled-out atmosphere,’ said Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz. ‘Working with Korn to develop their latest album, The Serenity of Suffering, was an awesome experience and the video filmed here was great to be a part of as well.’

As a music industry veteran, Raskulinecz has been at this for a while. His work ethic and solid reputation, which started at Sound City Studios after moving to Los Angeles in 1995, has landed him here at Dark Horse Recording where he has produced since 2010.

He has spent a great deal of time channeling his creative genius into chart-topping hits for successful bands—including the Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Alice In Chains, Deftones, Duff McKagan, Velvet Revolver, Rush and Mastodon.

The ‘Making of Rotting in Vain’ was shot on the 10-acre property with plenty of room to play. The location’s remoteness and the band’s high energy amplified the heaviness of the song. You’ll be blown away by Korn’s performance and will catch glimpses of Raskulinecz working diligently throughout. See for yourself. Watch the video now.
