Gear we Love: Samson MTR Series
One of the most costly items that every studio needs to get off the ground are microphones. Today there is no shortage of options and they range from affordable to refinance the house. Recently we came across the new Samson MTR Series after they made a splash at Winter NAMM 14. The Samson MTR Series offers you everything you need in a studio microphone. These needs are durability, versatility, affordability and performance. Finding all of these in one microphone are often difficult, but somehow Samson has created the perfect line for the amateur to professional studios.
The Samson MTR Series is a line of 4 large condenser microphones that boast high SPL handling, low self noise and internally shock mounted mic capsules which eliminates rumble and outside noise.
The High SPL up to 130dB means that the MTR Series can be used for Drums and amps and the low self noise can be used for vocals, and acoustic instruments.
The case is die cast and built to be durable and rugged.
If that isn’t enough to sell you, maybe the price will. The MTR series ranges from $99-$250.
