Gear We Love: Genelec 8010 Studio Monitor

Space in our studios has become a valuable commodity.  Home Studios, Vans and portable studios are becoming more prevalent due to advances in technology making it easier to take everything you need with you.  One area that remained a problem was lugging around heavy, expensive and delicate monitors.  The Genelec 8010 has made that a problem of the past.

The Genelec 8010 was featured at Winter NAMM this past January and became one of the most enginuitive products of the past year.

The Genelex 8010 is a small, portable, mountable active monitor that offers studio quality reference monitoring in small and temporary spaces.  It has an aluminium case with protective grill covering the 3″ woofers.  This allows you to versatility and portability.  It is only 4.8″ x 4.6″ and weighs 3.3 lbs.

The woofer delivers an accurate sound down to 75Hz  and two 24 watt amplifiers that reach up to 96dB.  It is equipped with an XLR connector and power cord and also gives you controls to fine tune your sound to your room.

The Genelec 8010 will be available in early 2014, so keep an eye out for it on sweetwater.com!
