Do I Need A Sub Woofer?

If you have a home studio you have probably asked yourself this question. Will it help me hear more bass? How will it affect my mixing? Should I just have it around as an option? The biggest issue with adding a subwoofer to any setup is phase and clarity. Since low frequency waves are so large and take a longer time to propagate it is important to factor in the size of you space, angles of walls, and relation to you main speakers.
