Many people think that studying Music Production or Audio Engineering means you have to find a job in a studio.  This couldn’t be further from the truth, in fact, front of house jobs are in high demand not only IN the US, but around the globe!

We had the opportunity to catch up with one of our March grads Jorge Bannister recently. Jorge just landed a job at a great venue in West Warwick, RI called Manchester 65.  Manchester 65 is a live performance venue located in West Warwick, RI, just 2 miles from I-95. Manchester 65 hosts a variety of performance including national and local music artists, theatre, comedy, film and fine arts. With a national level stage and sound system, our 600-person capacity venue is located on the Pawtuxet River and an outdoor courtyard overlooks a picturesque waterfall and natural surroundings. Migrating geese and lovely swans are commonly seen on the banks of the water.

We asked Jorge to share with us how his experience prepared him for a job in Front of House, Here’s what he had to say:

My experience at Dark Horse was nothing short of amazing.

I went into the course with some knowledge of audio engineering as a Front of House/Mix Engineer in the live concert world and wanted to sharpen my skills while also learning the studio aspect of things. My expectations were exceeded and my eyes were really opened to techniques like Compressing, Gating and EQing.

I had felt that audio engineering was my true calling and from the admissions process all the way through graduation, everyone at Dark Horse cemented that feeling.

Robin has certainly surrounded himself with a great staff. From Tony and Carolan running the day-to-day stuff at the school, to Scott with his marketing/online skills all the way down to his instructors who know what they’re talking about and help students relate to, and retain, what they’re learning (whether they know it or not).

The wealth of knowledge and confidence that Dark Horse was able to provide and instill in me, along with the bond of friendship that is formed during class and solidified during final projects, is something that will be a life-long memory.

I want to thank  Tony, Carolan, Scott, Robin and Colin, my instructor, for all the lessons and conversations had while I was there.

After graduating, I landed a gig in New England working Front of House for Manchester 65, a 400-person capacity club in West Warwick, R.I.
