Dark Horse 2017 End of Year Wrap-Up
Major news outlets are filled with year-end wrap-ups that portray 2017 as one of the most tumultuous years in recent memory. But as we prepare to enter the new year, I just wanted to say that we at the Crow Companies have so many things to be thankful for.
Dark Horse Recording Is Booming
We’ve had one of our best years ever, with sessions by Carrie Underwood, Brand New, Alan Jackson, Francesca Battistelli, Peter Frampton, Jeff Beck, Phil Keaggy, and Amy Lee (Evanescence). Long-term Producer, Nick Raskulinecz, continues to pound out chart-busting albums by Alice in Chains, Rise Against, Mastodon and Halestorm. Artist/Producer Billy Smiley scored big with CCM supergroup The Union of Sinners & Saints and new records by more than two dozen break-out artists. We’ve hosted film and TV shoots including work by the Food Network’s Teeny Tiny series, E!’s Eric & Jessie, and CMT’s Pickler & Ben.
In fact, we’ve had such a big year that we’ve just broken ground on a new 8,000 square foot expansion that will make Dark Horse Recording one of the largest destination recording studios on the planet.
Dark Horse Institute Continues To Disrupt Higher Education
With our largest and strongest staff ever, we made several giant steps in 2017 towards fulfilling our mission to deliver the most compelling Audio Engineering, Music Production and Music Business education available anywhere. The team now consists of President Tom Willett, VP of Academic Operations Cathy Baird, Marketing Manager Leslie Fredericks, Admissions Reps Christen Schaal and Craig Freeman, Student Services Manager Austin Bryan, Instructors Dave Hagen, Steve Lamm, Matt Sepanic, Sam Falle and Jamie Nehasil, and Video Content Creator Justin Todd.
Guest speakers have included Jim Catino (Sony), Jeff Howard (APA), Clay Hunnicutt (Big Loud Records), Dez Dickerson and Dan Hays, to name just a few.
The Intelligence Revolution
I’m putting the finishing touches on my 6th book, The Intelligence Revolution, and will be speaking about customer service to corporate audiences worldwide in 2018.
We each, in our various endeavors to affect our world, have much work to do, but also much to be grateful for.
