AUDIO ENGINEERING

As a student in our 17-week audio engineering program, you’ll be learning on the very same equipment used by Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Mastodon, Matchbox Twenty, Tim McGraw, Korn, Carrie Underwood, Relient K and countless others who come to our studios to record their albums.

You’ll learn digital and analog recording techniques on our world-class SSL and Trident mixing consoles in addition to our 40 Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstations.

You’ll learn about signal flow and the nuances of microphone placement using our collection of Neumann, Audio-Technica, Cascade, Sennheiser and AKG mics, to name just a few.

You’ll use our state-of-the-art software and plug-ins including Beat Detective, Elastic Audio, Trigger and Melodyne… plus you’ll learn to compose and produce beats, which is essential to creating great hip hop recordings.

You’ll also learn the ins and outs of running Live Sound.

Plus, you will record not one, but two bands from start to finish, creating six-song EPs for each. This is the kind of hands-on, real-world experience that will give you the competitive edge.

MUSIC BUSINESS

Now, for our Music Business program. If you’re ready to take a deep dive into the workings of the $60 billion dollar global music industry, then our 12-week intensive Music Business program might be right for you.

In fact, 80% of our students take both programs. We’ll walk you through the dozens of critical jobs required to succeed in the music industry and prepare you to land the job of your dreams, or to become an entertainment entrepreneur.

You’ll learn about artist management, record deals, touring, and publishing, plus all of the key contracts you need to understand in order to work with artists or to launch your own career.

Each morning you’ll learn the ins-and-outs of how the music industry works. Then, in the afternoon, you’ll work at Dark Horse Music Group, a student-run recording, marketing and project management company.

There you’ll scout and sign indie bands, and prepare them for the production of 6-song EPs. You’ll also develop the web and social media marketing tools that are essential to launching a career. You’ll get real-word experience, plus leave here with a portfolio of work that will convince potential employers that you should be their next hire.
